As a CII Registered Provider, Pathfinder soundly believes that knowledge sharing and collaboration of experiences and new ideas is an essential part of bringing clarity and confidence to process industry project teams across a multitude of industries.
Early in the pandemic, as a way to stay connected to the industry, we initiated a collective focus group around Project Pitfalls from a Contractor’s Perspective. A good cross-section of the US heavy industrial contractors participated. This effort did not uncover any shocking revelations but did reinforce that the industry is salvageable. More recently, we held a forum with Owner organizations from various industries to discuss why projects cost more than industry norms or why their US-based projects cost more than similar international projects. Discussions around what others are doing about this pricing variation from one region of the world to another and from one project to another has identified issues around standards and specification selection, owner company legacy project management culture, owner overzealous project oversight and bespoke designs.
