Course Overview and Objective This seminar will cover Project Management 'Best Practices' approaches, methods, techniques and tools to enhance the project management of capital power projects. Project Management personnel in the power generating industry will learn critical methods to effectively and efficiently plan, contract, construct and manage capital plant projects. Using specific industry-related case studies and ‘hands-on’ workshops, participants will be exposed to problems unique to power producing and transmission projects and innovative ways for successfully preventing and/or overcoming their impact to successful execution. A combination of PowerPoint presentation/lecture and interactive workshops will focus on the application of Project Management tools and techniques during each major phase of a power project.

With 25+ years of project engineering and project management experience, he’s provided contract, cost, scheduling, procurement, project controls services for owner/government clients in the Petroleum, Petrochemical, Chemical, Power, Environmental, Pharmaceutical, Industrial and Commercial industries worldwide.
James Cravens, Senior Executive Associate, Pathfinder LLC
Mr. Cravens is an accomplished Project Control professional with over thirty-five years of diverse experience in a wide range of industry sectors. He has completed both domestic and international assignments ranging from “hands on” Project Control implementation to Leadership positions on multi-billion dollar projects. His background encompasses corporate leadership as the Vice President of Project Controls and Estimating for one of the industry’s largest EPC Contractors where he had Project Controls responsibility for a worldwide portfolio of projects with a staff exceeding four hundred and twenty-five (425). Executive responsibilities included direct involvement in the Independent assessment of ongoing projects. He served as a founding member of the “Project Review Board” for a major EPC Contractor and was instrumental in establishment of the process that governed review activities.
